Executive Summary of Strategic Plan

The Institute for Racial, Ethnic, and Socioeconomic Equity (EI) at The George Washington University is dedicated to advancing equity through research, policy engagement, and community-driven solutions. Over the next five years, EI will focus on four key objectives: closing racial and socioeconomic gaps, supporting GW researchers through interdisciplinary programs, translating research into policy action, and securing sustainable funding.

EI’s work is organized into four research pillars—Habitat, Education, Justice, and Democracy—with initiatives like the Closing the Racial Wealth Gap project, America 250, and the Equity Policy Bootcamp. The Policy Lab will drive cross-disciplinary collaboration, and a Summer Institute launching in 2026 will provide equity-focused courses.
