Shes 100 Award Event Description

Dr. Wendy Ellis was recently honored as a recipient of the #Shes100 Equity Award by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women Metropolitan Washington, DC (NCBWDC) Chapter.

The ceremony took place on Thursday, March 20th at 6pm during a ceremony at Pepco Edison Place Gallery (near Portrait Gallery).

NCBWDC has shared the following, honoring Dr. Ellis:

"A visionary public health leader, researcher, and advocate, Dr. Ellis has spearheaded a global resilience movement by developing frameworks and research methods that address systemic inequities affecting social and health outcomes. As the Inaugural Director of the Institute for Racial, Ethnic, and Socioeconomic Equity, she is pioneering strategies to close the wealth gap, reduce childhood adversity, and advance economic mobility in historically marginalized communities.

Dr. Ellis is the architect of the Building Community Resilience (BCR) process and Community Resilience framework, models used nationwide to align policies and investments for community-led solutions. She is also a documentary producer, showcasing the impact of structural racism and community resilience through her film America’s Truth: Cincinnati, now part of the National Underground Railroad Freedom Center’s permanent collection.

Her groundbreaking work continues to influence public health, philanthropy, and policymaking, ensuring that resilience and equity remain at the forefront of systems change.

Celebrate Dr. Ellis and other remarkable women at the 2025 NCBWDC Shes100 Awards!"

Please join us in congratulating Dr. Ellis on this honor.
